April 5th is not just another early spring day. It is indeed a monumental day – a day that celebrates the bestowing of hope from one human being to another; one that recognizes phenomenal people who make a difference in millions of lives across Canada – National Oncology Nurses Day 2011.
The Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) and its constituents have been recognizing nurses’ high level of care, efficiency and patient outcomes each spring for the past 7 years through this remarkable initiative. Each year an appeal is sent nation-wide urging communities to take the time to give thanks to the skilled, strong, and dedicated individuals to whom we owe so much. The theme for 2011 is “Celebrate our Voice” — Fitting for a group of selfless individuals whose voices help soothe the sick and celebrate their triumphs.
On April 5th “not only will important members of every cancer care team be recognized, but all Canadians will be reminded of the critical role that oncology nurses play during all phases of cancer treatment and care.” Thanks to programs, services and support offered by the CANO to the thousands of oncology nurses across Canada, adequate tools are in place to exploit oncology care and treatment and play an integral role in keeping the healthcare system running smoothly.
Join us in silencing cancer’s voice, by celebrating the voices of those nurses that stand by patients every step of the way- helping them live strong.
On behalf of our patients, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the nurses that care for them throughout their difficult journeys. We know your role is critical to the care and well-being of those battling cancer.
HAPPY ONCOLOGY NURSES DAY!
